When a home’s layout separates indoor and outdoor living by a full story, a thoughtful transition is key. For this Massachusetts project, we designed and built a custom elevated deck with a matching staircase, offering safe, stylish access between the second-floor kitchen and the backyard. With clean lines, high-quality materials, and weather-resistant finishes, this upgrade brings functionality and elegance to daily life.
The client’s goals were clear:
We began by constructing a pressure-treated wood frame deck, built to code with structural reinforcements to support frequent use. The decking boards were installed with precision, then topped with a black aluminum and cable railing system that matches the descending staircase.

The final result is a clean, modern outdoor living area that connects the home’s upper level with its yard. The open-cable rail system gives the deck and stairs an airy feel while enhancing safety. From weekday meals to weekend gatherings, this build gives the family a beautiful and practical new space to enjoy every day.
